The East Coast Mainline through Co Durham Talk - Richard Barber
In association with North Eastern Railway Association, Richard Barber presents a talk detailing the history of Darlington section of the East Coast Mainline through Country Durham.
The East Coast Main Line (ECML), is one of the oldest names in British railway history, is the former route of the Flying Scotsman and the Mallard, and connects the capitals of England and Scotland via Yorkshire, York, Durham and Newcastle.
This is the first of three presentations looking at the route of the East Coast, as we journey through Co Durham from the Tees to the Tyne and take a look at the ECML as it passes through Darlington. In 2029 part of the East Coast main line through Bank Top will have been in-situ for 200 years, although having seen great changes in those 200 years.
