Connected Communities: Stories that Connect Us
Connected Communities: Stories that Connect Us - A creative workshop series at Hopetown Darlington
Step into Hopetown and explore the stories that shaped everyday life on the railways. Connected Communities: Stories that Connect Us is a relaxed, creative workshop series that draws on fascinating material from Hopetown’s historic railway staff magazines.
Together we’ll spend time with photographs, personal memories and written accounts that capture moments of travel, work, celebration and connection. These sessions create space for conversation, reflection and creative response, bringing people together through shared stories and lived experience.
Whether you’re keen to reminisce, curious about local history or simply enjoy thoughtful discussion, these workshops offer a chance to connect with others and see Hopetown’s heritage through fresh eyes. No previous experience is required – just come along and take part in a way that suits you.
Workshops run every Thursday, 1pm - 3pm, from 14 May 2026.
Connected Communities is led by the Institute for Collective Place Leadership at Teesside University, working with Creative Darlington, Centre for Local Studies, Hopetown Darlington, The Forum, and Darlington Assistance for Refugees.
The programme is supported by the AHRC Impact Acceleration Account and Creative Darlington.
