It's Darlington Brick Show this weekend…

We’re absolutely thrilled by the response of ticket sales. The event is now fully sold out and we do not have any walk-up tickets available for Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st May.

To keep everything running smoothly (and safely), if you don’t already hold a ticket for this weekend, we kindly ask that you do not travel to site. This also applies if you were hoping to visit Hopetown without attending the LEGO event, as the site will be at full capacity.

We know it’s a bit of a brick wall to hit if you missed out – thank you for understanding 🙏

We’ll be back open as usual from Tuesday, and the good news is… Darlington Brick Show will return next year! 🎉

Station Garden Volunteers

Thanks for visiting this page. Unfortunately applications for Station Garden volunteers are closed.

Applications are currently closed for Station Garden Volunteers.

Running in conjunction with the Stockton and Darlington Railway 26 miles Team from summer 2025 to summer 2027, Station Garden volunteers will play an important part of planting and maintaining the Sensory Station Garden and some of the other flowerbeds around Hopetown Darlington.

Volunteering activities occur from March to October/November on Thursdays (bi-weekly in March and April) and weekly from June to October.

Volunteers will need to have:

  • basic garden knowledge
  • to be in reasonable fitness
  • to be friendly and approachable when chatting to our visitors
  • be able to give 2 hours a month to support the garden

Gardening gloves, knee mats, gardening tools and refreshments will be provided. Get in touch today!

Good to know

All Volunteering Sessions will be held during Museum opening times, and as such applicants will need to be friendly and approachable as they will engage with visitors to Hopetown directly and indirectly each time.

We have a flexible approach and will make reasonable adjustments as much as possible to accommodate applicant’s needs. Volunteers can provide support for both short- and long-term time commitments .e.g. if only during school term time or only when schools are closed for holidays.

Any volunteers under the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by another adult of over 18 whilst volunteering at any point.

All volunteers will be given a site tour, a chat through all health and safety and risk assessments and will be allocated a ‘buddy’ for the first few sessions to help them settle in upon starting.

A Curator’s tour for all existing and new volunteers so they can learn about the history of the Hopetown site as a team as when throughout the year, done as a group.

Regular volunteer get togethers occur throughout the year, giving volunteers a chance to meet new people supporting Hopetown and the Stockton and Darlington Railway 26 miles wider volunteers.

Additional volunteering opportunities will be sent via bi-weekly opportunity emails throughout the year.
